Log in at http:// webctce.unlv.edu and follow the link to the discussion group. Between classes (see schedule for due dates) make a post (i.e. enter a statement with a topic and your name) and reply to someone else’s post. Depending on the rate of the discussion your two entries may need to be done at separate times.
YOUR POST should share a reaction to an idea in the article (e.g. an insight, a-ha!, surprise, or point of disagreement, etc.) or a question it raises for you (i.e. a point that extends or ponders ideas presented, or points of confusion or things you wonder about).
YOUR REACTION The quality of your reaction will be evident by your dialogue in response to the other person’s comments, and the number and depth of connections you make to it and to other subjects and/or events you bring up. The criteria for the online discussion posts includes participation and format as described above, as well as the criteria below.

Points made/discussion pertains to the range of ideas and issues discussed in the text selection; no obvious areas are ignored or omitted. - Depth of Reflection-
Points made/discussion moves beyond surface; thoughtful or reflective analysis or explanation/elaboration or assessment that reveals efforts to connect information in text to personal experiences. - Coherence/ Format/ Grammar/Syntax –
-Paragraphs are developed with a thesis and supporting details and are connected with effective transitions.
-Complete sentences, correct usage of words, punctuation, and spelling present.
