I direct (and am PI) of this PT3 Catalyst grant from the USDE researching and developing online, multimedia, context-rich scenarios with embedded assessments to deepen preservice teachers’ decision-making skills about integrating and implementing technology. (See http://www.etips.info)

Exemplary Technology-supported Schooling Case Studies, 2000-2004

I co-directed , with Ron Anderson of U of MN, these case studies of eleven U.S. K12 schools that employ educational technology to support school reform, innovative teaching practices, and increased student achievement; this project is a part of two international studies. Project Director (PI), Ed-U-Tech, 1999-2003

I directed (and was PI of) this PT3 Implementation grant from the USDE to improve the preparation of preservice teachers to use educational technology as a support to instruction. This was a college-wide initiative affecting all initial licensure programs at the University of Minnesota. (See http://ci.education.umn.edu/adoering/edutech/default.html)

Planning for International Research on Exemplary Sites of Technology-Enhanced Learning (P-SITES), 1998-99

I was the Project Coordinator for this NSF-funded planning grant (R.E. Anderson PI) that developed a research design for studying the nature and combination of prerequisites for effective technology-based exemplary practices in education with an emphasis upon factors that vary cross-nationally. This study design was subsequently employed in the Exemplary Technology-supported Schooling Case Studies project. (See http://education.umn.edu/carei/sites/)

Teaching, Learning, and Computing (TLC’98), 1998-2000

I researched the role of technology in instruction for TLC '98, an NSF- and OERI-funded grant (H.J. Becker and R.E. Anderson co-PIs), by assisting in systematically relating technology to teacher pedagogical beliefs and practices, schoolwide staff development and teacher support systems, and school decision-making organization to reveal what factors are most responsible for affecting how teachers use technology resources.
